David was a shepherd boy, he wasn’t very tall

But Samuel had anointed him to take the place of Saul

He liked to play the harp and he was handy with a sling

And God was in his heart so he would make a better king

I want to be like David

And give my heart to You

Whatever I have You gave it

So I’ll live my life for You

David was a worshipper, and comfort he would bring

Tending sheep or playing in the courts of Saul the king

But he could face Goliath like a lion or a bear

For David was a warrior of God beyond compare

Don’t need a special suit to wear,

My strength is in the Lord

As He has promised to be there,

I’ll take Him at His word
